Create a Broadcast

Video Tutorial

Requirements

In order to use WhatsApp Broadcast, you’ll have to confirm the following:

  1. An active WhatsApp connection on MyAlice

  2. You're essentially using a Template Message for broadcasting. You'll need to make sure you have the template message you’re trying to broadcast already approved by WhatsApp. Check our documentation for more information on Template Messages.

  3. Payment information added to your account

Limitations

You do have a limitation as to the number of broadcast messages you can send per day. Initially, given your Business Manager is verified, you will have access to 1000 messages per day. As you start broadcasting frequently, the amount will increase to 10000 and more gradually and can reach up to unlimited messages.

Steps Involved

Step 1: Login to MyAlice and refer to the Broadcast section

Step 2: Complete the required steps to access the broadcasting feature.

Once you’ve completed, you’ll see the following section.

Step 3: Next step is to add credits for this broadcast. Click on the ‘Add Credit’ button and select the amount of credits you will need. Check our cost estimator to know beforehand what the cost of your broadcast might be. It’s a good idea to have a bit more credit than you’ll need. The cost will be deducted from your card automatically once you confirm. Based on the number of successful broadcasts, the cost will adjusted and any deficit will be added as credits to your account.

Step 4: Once you’ve created the broadcast, click on the ‘Create Broadcast’ button. In the subsequent page, add a name for your campaign, select the WhatsApp account from where you want the broadcast to go, and the template that you want to broadcast.

Step 5: You’ll be able to see a preview of your broadcast once you select the required fields. You also have the option to send a test broadcast to confirm yourself. To do that, click on the ‘Send a Test Message’ button below the preview and provide the phone number.

Step 6: Next comes the part where you’ll have to provide the details of the contacts whom you want to send the broadcast. You’ll see an option to upload a CSV file with all the details. Primarily you’ll need to have the name and phone number of the customers.

Formatting guidelines for the CSV

  1. Must include name and phone number

  2. Phone numbers must include the country code

  3. If you’re using variables in your template, for each variable, there must be a corresponding column in the CSV with the values.

  4. Number of contacts cannot exceed the daily limit for your account.

  5. It’s better to only have columns that are relevant for your template and not have any additional columns.

Step 7: When the CSV gets uploaded, it’ll show you a preview and you will be asked to map the contents of the columns to an attribute. This is just assigning the column names to attributes so that the data is processed properly.

Click on the ‘Import as’ dropdown and you’ll see Phone Number and Full Name by default. Map accordingly. If your file contains any variables, you should map them as ‘Customer Attribute’

Step 8: Final step is to decide the schedule. If you want to send the broadcast right then, click on the arrow and select ‘Send now’. And if you want to schedule it for a later date and time, click on Schedule, select your desired Date and Time and click on ‘Confirm Schedule’. Please make sure you’ve set up the correct timezone for your account from Settings> Team Information.

Step 10: And you’re done creating your broadcast! Refer back to the broadcast section, and click on the bar icon against your broadcasts and you’ll see detailed reports about your broadcast as to how many people received it and how many replied or left it as seen. You can even export the report as a CSV for your reference.
